Mohammad Dawood Qayomi is a diplomat, scholar, and author with over fourteen years of experience in diplomacy, higher education, and policy research. His diplomatic career included assignments in Iran, service at the Center for Strategic Studies of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and senior diplomatic responsibilities representing Afghanistan abroad. He is also a co-founder of the University of Afghanistan in Kabul and a former lecturer at the University of Toronto.

Qayomi is a PhD candidate at Laurentian University, where his academic work focuses on peace and conflict, with particular attention to Afghanistan, Central Asia, regional cooperation, and sustainable peace. His research interests include peacebuilding, conflict resolution, inclusive governance, regional security, and geopolitics.

He is the author of Unfinished Political Modernization in Afghanistan: Elites, Ethnicity, and the State-Building Process and is currently working on Rethinking Peacebuilding in Afghanistan: National, Regional, and International Approaches.
